Analysis of Evolution of the Hominids Analysis of evolution of the hominids from Australopithecus to Homo erectus species
Evolution of hominids is the evolutionary process which led to the emergence of anatomically
superior beings (human beings). Here I am going to analyze the evolution of hominids from
Australopithecus species to Homo erectus species. These are the species which lived in this
world between 4.2 to 0.3 million years ago. Australopithecus species was first discovered in
1924, in a lime quarry by workers at Taung, South Africa (Richmond, 2001) and are considered
to be the ancestors to the genus Homo. Australopithecus had two species i.e Australopithecus
anamensis and Australopithecus afarensis. There was no much difference between
Australopithecus anamensis and Australopithecus anamensis. This because they shared the same
genus name but belong to different species These species with time developed both physically
and mentally as evidenced by the physical changes in their bodies as well as the changes in their
brain capacity (Michael, 2005). The table below summarizes the features of these hominids right
from Australopithecus to Homo erectus species. Answer Preview
