Please note:
This is an individual assessment so you should not work with any other student.
Your tutor will arrange time in class to discuss how your essay and those of others is progressing. This will be an
opportunity for you to ask questions about your assessment.
Feedback will be given in the feedback section of the VLE and where requested, a one-to-one session can be
organised.
Once your essay has been marked, the module coordinator reserves the right to ask you to give an oral
presentation of your essay and subject you to questions. Such a viva may lead to your initial mark being
modified if you are unable to demonstrate the knowledge and insights expressed in your essay through the
questions asked.
Structure:
Your essay should be divided into the following sections.
Section 1: Introduction (150-200 words)
Section 2: Main Body* (1200-1600 words)
4-5 descriptive and evaluative paragraphs.
Essay structure can vary according to the requirements of the essay question that is asked but in general the essay
should aim to first describe a relevant theory (or theories) and then apply the theory to analyse the case.
Section 3: Conclusion (150-200 words)
*This section is not called “Main Body”. Change this title to one that is appropriate to your essay. Main body simply
means that this is where most of the writing will be done.
