Good morning classmates and professor,
I believe I would know if someones addicted by viewing how they react to losing their mobile device. From my personal experience, Ive seen people freak out if they misplace their phone. They would increase in volume as they turn the house upside down to find it only to discover it sitting right next to them, blending into the background. I would use the strategy I found online called the digital detox challenge. I want to see if the person can surpass a certain amount of time without using the Internet. This means no social networking sites, no scrolling news articles, and no cute cat videos. However, given how digitally connected society is, I dont believe the strategy could work. The Internet is so pivotal for entertainment, work, education, science, etc. that it is as viable as oxygen and water.

Good morning classmates and professor,
The article I found to be interesting is the one titled Depression and Social Anxiety in Relation to Problematic Smartphone Use by Jon D. Elhai, Mojisola Tiamiyu, and Justin Weeks. Through their study on 296 college students, the authors discussed the role of rumination on depression from severe smartphone use. One of the key takeaways from the article is the authors use of a smartphone addiction scale. This scale measured the participants level of problematic smartphone use. The one thing that I found relevant to myself was the smartphone usage for purposes such as messaging, social networking, entertainment, and navigation. It is because of this jack of all trades manner of the smartphone that makes it so appealing. It may also make it difficult to separate the phone from its user.
