This is a global health theorizing disparities paper. Using models such as social determinants of health and or social-ecological model to help build this essay. (The health disparities/social determinants have been picked just see attachment for rough idea pdf rough part 1 plan) You will create an illustrated essay connecting two determinants of health to your global health disparity using a theoretical framework. Your final product will be between a minimum of 1,250 words and a maximum of 1,500 words (not including citations). An illustrated essay fully integrates text with visual elements to form a more convincing argument than either could have produced on their own. Clear organization and seamless integration of these visual elements is what will distinguish an excellent illustrated essay. 1. The first step is to identify a health disparity. Although you can use any source to identify this disparity which can be international (i.e. between countries) or national (i.e. within a country) in nature I suggest you make use of the WHO Global Health Observatorys interactive data visualizations. You can evaluate a disparity across socioeconomic status, education, sex, place of residence, or any other dimension, but you should focus on only one dimension. Make sure that you have decided on one specific dimension over which your disparity exists and have clearly identified the country, countries, or region on which you will focus. Keep in mind that choosing a global disparity will make your task of connecting that disparity to specific determinants more difficult than choosing one or two specific countries or region(s) within a country. 2. The next step is to use a theoretical approach to identify two social determinants that can explain how this health disparity is being produced. By the time you submit your proposal, we will have covered several theories used to analyze social determinants of health ranging from materialist, to psychosocial, to life-course, to eco-social theories. Once you have chosen a theory, use course readings and outside sources to identify two social, political, or economic factors (i.e. determinants) that might be generating the disparity you have identified. Remember that demonstrating your understanding of the theoretical approach is just as important as identifying two plausible social determinants of health that underlie the global health dis
parity. 3. Your final product must incorporate and cite information from a minimum of six sources and include at least five visual elements. Of these (minimum) five visual elements, at least two must be quantitative (data tables, figures, plots, etc.), at least two must be qualitative (flowchart, map, photo, etc.), and at least three must be created by you (i.e. only two can be copied and cited! from outside sources). You can use any software you are comfortable with to create these visual elements, including Excel, Google Sheets, or Tableau. There are innumerable sources possible for creating these figures, but you can search World Bank Open Data, Our World in Data, or the Global Health Observatory for ideas. first identify and explain your global health disparity, and then explain your theoretical approach and its relevance to the health disparity. After that, identify two determinants of health that should be considered to better understand this global health disparity. You should conclude by bringing together your health disparity and social determinants using your theoretical approach in a summary paragraph. Criteria: You have identified a specific global health disparity (2 pts.) You have fully described your theoretical approach (3 pts.) You have connected two determinants of health to your disparity (4 pts.) You have effectively synthesized your determinants, theory, and disparity (4 pts.) Your minimum five visual elements effectively convey information (5 pts.) Your writing is clear and well structured (3 pts.) You have seamlessly integrated text with visual elements (3 pts.) You have not properly cited a minimum of six sources < up to 5 pt. deduction > down below I have attached a copy of the a plan I created for this essay: it was graded by the instructor and feedback was provided, I wish to keep the topic that I used in this first part (see attachment) but if you could continue to make it better and use the feedback, that would be appreciative. You can also use the references i have cited and if you have more please add them in, articles should be peer-reviewed and referenced.
